Singh, D., Singh, C.K., Taunk, J. et al. (2016) Genetic analysis and molecular mapping of seedling survival drought tolerance gene in lentil (Molecular Breeding 36: 58.     doi:10.1007/s11032-016-0474-y)

Materials and Methods:

Stress was applied “when the seedlings were 2 weeks old, by removing them from the nutrient solution such that their roots were exposed to air for 5 h daily for a period of 6 days. Control plants were kept in the nutrient solution for the entire period (6 days) of development without interruption“.

Beyond the unreal drought stress protocol, consider the added difference between “drought stress” and control in plant nutrition, whereas the “stress” plants were out of the nutrient solution for a total of 30 hours (out of 6 days), as compared with the control.
